It is even better to hold a master’s degree in chemistry to decode labels and really understand what our cosmetics contain. Now, the beauty app, CLEAN BEAUTY, developed by the OFFICINEA Laboratory, changes our daily beauty habits by allowing each of us to decrypt all the cosmetics and reveal the controversial ingredients.
Unbelievable but true: consumers do not generally know what contains their cosmetics
There is so far no clear and easily accessible information that helps understanding the composition of cosmetics, while a woman uses an average of more than 100 chemical ingredients on her skin (cosmetics, hygiene products and makeup accumulated).
A LOT OF AUTHORIZED BUT CONTROVERSIAL INGREDIENTS
However, many ingredients authorized by the European Cosmetic Regulation (which regulates prohibited or restricted ingredients) are now subject to controversy within the international scientific community, with endocrine disruptors ahead.
The potential noxiousness of those ingredients is reinforced by the cocktail or cumulative effect that the European Cosmetic Regulation cannot take into account because of the different ways of live and consumption of each of us.
CLEAN BEAUTY, THE BEAUTY APP THAT IS A GAME-CHANGER
CLEAN BEAUTY is the first mobile app allowing a dynamic analysis of the composition of beauty and hygiene products, thanks to a photo of the list of ingredients present on the packaging.
Its automatic detection system reveals the ingredients contested by the scientific community:
- Ingredients suspected to be endocrine disruptors
- Risky preservatives
- Irritating or comedogenic ingredients
The CLEAN BEAUTY app also automatically identifies the 26 allergens selected from the list of substances subject to restriction according to EU Regulation number 1223/2009 appendix III. It also provides a glossary with details for nearly 800 ingredients allowing a detailed decoding of adults and children cares.
